On Aug. 25, Speightscity, one of the talented horses we insure, raced in the Travers Stakes in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. With 30-1 odds, Speightscity ran a great race, held the lead until the mile and 1/8 pole but tired near the end, and for the first time in 143 runnings, the race ended in a dead heat. A photo finish determined that the 2-1 favorite, Alpha, and a longshot, Golden Ticket, finished in a history-making dead heat.

Eaton & Berube Owners Marc and Sue Berube had the privilege of attending the Travers Stakes, watching Speightscity compete, and witnessing this exciting finish. Pictured below is Speightscity with trainer Gary Contessa and Sue Berube (right). Considering Speightscity’s performance and great promise he showed, after the race his owners Bruce and Linda McConnell felt that “they have a real race horse now.”

We would like to congratulate Bruce, Linda, and everyone at McConnell Racing Stable on this exciting accomplishment!
