The Eaton & Berube team, along with the carriers we represent, are committed to keeping our policyholders in the loop about situations that could cause unnecessary fees or jeopardize coverage.
There are some aspects of making sure you don’t run into these issues that lie outside of our control. When payments are sent in the mail, the delivery of your policy payment inevitably falls in the hands of the U.S Postal service. Throughout the pandemic, we’re seeing this create more and more issues for our policyholders. Here’s a little insight and a couple of recommendations we have to prevent this from happening to you.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an increase in package shipments, the U.S. Postal Service is experiencing service delays that are causing payments to arrive late.
With increasing frequency, we are hearing about policyholders incurring late payment fees and even policy cancellations. We’re here to help you resolve those issues to the fullest extent possible, but the best way to make sure you remain properly protected is to avoid getting stuck in this situation.
To eliminate reliance on the U.S. Postal Service, we encourage you to visit your carrier’s website and review alternative payment methods. If you can’t find your carrier listed, or don’t know who your carrier is, give us a call and we’ll look into more reliable payment options for your policy.
Safe, secure alternative payment methods with our insurance carriers often include:
- Online bill payment through your carrier’s website.
- Paying through your carrier’s mobile app
- Completing an EFT authorization form for automatic payments (set it and forget it!)
- Pay your bill over the phone.
Late payment fees are not fun. Neither is having to reinstate coverage or change carriers because of a cancellation. Setting up automatic payments, or using the other options listed above, can be a huge failsafe that helps to avoid a lot of future inconveniences.
