Business Person of the Year goes to... Marc R. Berube of Eaton & Berube Insurance Agency, Inc.
Marc believes southern New Hampshire is the best place on the planet to live and work. His employees thinking working under his leadership at Eaton & Berube Insurance Agency is the best kind of workplace in which to thrive.
"As an employer, Marc cares about his employees and is happy to help solve issues in the office, no matter how big or small, regardless of his busy schedule. He encourages us to always see the glass half full." This was just a small portion of the testament written on Marc's nomination form, which was secretly submitted by his employees.
Marc encourages his staff to be involved in the community by volunteering and donating to non-profit organizations. E&B employees regularly volunteer at the Nashua Soup Kitchen and assist in other fundraisers such as the March of Dimes walk-a-thon in the spring each year. In many instances, his kids and the children of employees have joined in volunteering. At Marc's request, there is no longer a holiday gift exchange within the office. Instead, the dollars are put toward "adopting" local needy families for gift giving. Nashua Pastoral Care, the Milford Share program and the Nashua YMCA's giving tree bank have all benefited from this initiative.
Since graduating from Bishop Guertin High School and the University of NH in the mid 80's, Marc has spent his entire business career in Nashua. He started at Caron & Berube Insurance in 1985. In the early 90's, the Agency merged with the Eaton Agency in Milford to become the Eaton & Berube Insurance Agency of today.
Marc became the sole owner and president of Eaton & Berube Insurance in 2001. He acquired the former St. Laurent & McArdle Agency in 2006.
Marc has been a member of the Rotary Club of Nashua West for 23 years. He is very active member, serving as the Advisor for both the Interact Club of Nashua North High School and Rotaract Club at the Nashua Community College. He currently serves on the Board of the Nashua Boys and Girls Club. He has helped coordinate the Rotary Club's Holiday Food Basket deliveries to 70 area families for the past 20 years. He also is a graduate of the Chamber's Leadership Greater Nashua program.
Professionally, Marc is the current Chairman of the Board for the Independent Insurance Agents of NH. He is serving on two insurance companies' Agents Advisory Councils as well. He is a member of the Chamber's State Advocasy Committee and is trying to learn and "become involved" with the political process.
Lastly, what has Marc done of note in the past year? He has remained consistent in "Doing the Right Thing" in business, volunteering and with family and friends.
